Showstopper Chianti Open This Week For Tasting

We couldn't believe we could find a Chianti this good and for only $15! 2018 Castello Trebbio Chianti Superiore, with its red and almost velvety lable, is a wine you cannot thumb your nose at and we will have it open for you to try all week. This estate, originally owned by the Pozzi family, has been producing wine in Tuscany since 1184. The winery is certified Biointegrale, which means they practice ethical farming and treat the vineyard as a part of nature so they respect the fundamental principles of promoting biodiversity, eliminate the use of synthetic chemicals, and reduce human intervention in the vineyard. Since they are superiore status they are required to reduce yields in order to make a wine with a little more concentration than your average Chianti and they must age the wine in oak a few months longer. The wine is a blend of 85% Sangiovese and the remainder of the blend contains Canaiolo, Colorino, and Ciliegiolo. On the nose, you will be amazed with the beautiful red fruit, slight floral character, and some sweet spice, and then you will be dazzled by the complexity and drinkability of this "simple" wine. Medium-body, velvety tannin, and balanced at 13% ABV, this is a wine I recommend you consider for a delicious house red that is very food friendly and at an incredible price.
