DI MAJO NORANTE WINERY Di Majo Norante has its own estate vineyards near the ocean and the town of Campomarino. Even though it is situated in Molise, it makes its wines in a more Campanian style, and so they have Southern Italy at their heart. Di Majo Norante has been bottling wines since 1968 and makes several reds and whites, including some interesting sounding blends. The Di Majo Norante winery is located to the north of the Gargano in Molise on the estate of the Marquis Norante of Santa Cristina. This estate has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines since the 1800's. In the 1960's a modern cantina was constructed and vines were replanted. Optimal exposure, constant breezes during the summer, excellent soil composition and a slope toward the Sciabolone and Madonna Grande valleys, blend together to create a particularly favorable environment for the production of wine. Alessio Di Majo has hired renowned enologist, Riccardo Cotarella, as a consultant in order to ensure consistent, high quality production for all their wines. The Di Majo family is dedicated to producing quality wine at an outstanding value and practicing environmentally sound agriculture.
DI MAJO NORANTE TERRA DEGLI OSCI SANGIOVESE 2008
Winery Notes: “Dry and mellow wine, with a bright red colour, fresh and fruity bouquet with a hint of violet and red berries and a trace of leather. Ideal with hors d’oeuvres, starters, game, meats and cheeses.”
The Wine Advocate 90 points: “The 2008 Sangiovese Terre degli Osci is an incredibly delicious, full-bodied wine with gorgeous clarity and definition. Made in a bold, fruit-driven style, the wine offers terrific depth and a long, polished finish. This harmonious red is a knockout!”
FALESCO WINERY The Falesco Winery, owned by the brothers Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella, two of Italy's most acclaimed winemakers have been deeply rooted in between the Lazio and Umbria regions, established in Montefi ascone (Lazio, Viterbo province) in 1979. Retrieving historical vines was considered a paramount of importance among the brothers initial goals. As a matter of fact this territory had been famous for centuries for its outstanding wines, which were the privilege of the Roman aristocracy and the Popes, yet, in recent years, it had almost sunk into oblivion. Therefore it took several years of painstaking research and selections before old clones, which had almost been considered extinct, could be isolated along with extremely delicate microvarieties with their matchless aroma and organoleptic value that were lost with the planting of specialized vineyards in the 1960s. Beside retrieving vines, they have tried to spot areas with a marked viticultural vocation in which the exposure and the peculiar composition of the soils. Their philosophy is to strike a balance between the uniqueness of native Italian varieties and the versatility of more "international" grapes which result in very hi gh quality wines.
FALESCO VITIANO ROSSO CABERNET SAUVIGNON/ SANGIOVESE/ MERLOT 2008 Winery Notes: “This is a blockbuster young red wine with explosive, luscious aromas. Vitiano Rosso is deep ruby-red in color, and offers a wide range of fruit and spice aromas, including black cherry jam, licorice, and tobacco leaf. This versatile wine pairs well with a wide array of food, including meat, pasta, and pizza. It is best enjoyed in its youth when its fresh fruit character is most evident. Vitiano Rosso is a perennial value and must-buy.”
The Wine Advocate 89 points: "The 2008 Vitiano Rosso (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese) is a racy, sleek wine that impresses with its layers of perfumed red cherries and sweet toasted oak. The wine offers terrific clarity and precision in a slightly taut, focused style for this offering. A few months of bottle age seems prudent. According to proprietor Riccardo Cotarella, the bottle variation that occasionally shows up in Vitiano is most likely attributable to the different amounts of time the various lots spend in bottle prior to arriving on the market. Clearly lots that have more time in bottle have the potential to show greater harmony than lots that have less time in bottle. That said, slight bottle variation issues here are a minor quibble for a wine that delivers so much value. "

TIRED OF FINDING A GOOD PINOT GRIGIO BUT PAYING $20 + FOR IT! WELL WE HAVE ONE FOR YOU FOR ALMOST THE HALF THE PRICE. SAN PIETRO WINERY The Consorzio Viticoltori Alto Adige was established in 1984 and includes six Alto Adige producers. Vinification up to finished wine for bottling takes place in the various estates’ cellars in order not to alter the single local specialties, while bottling of all wines is carried out at the Appiano headquarters. By grouping together highly specialized and highly qualified producers, Viticoltori has initiated the most fruitful quality oriented oenological innovation of the region, for it finally allows the very finest crus of Alto Adige to be known in their integrity. The process is simple and effective. The oenologist of the co-operative works closely with the oenologists of the various wineries and choses only the best lots of wine to be bottled (at the co-operative winery of St. Michael, Eppan) thus ensuring the highest quality possible. And here it must be added that the Trentino Alto Adige boasts the finest white wine oenologists in Italy. All aspects concerning viticulture are supervised by a provincial committee that collaborates with the agronomists of the seven wineries. This wine is fuller in colour than other wines of the Alto Adige, they are full but soft to the palate with a good acidic balance with a slight note of ripe fruit. The aroma is of tropical fruit and honey. Truly lovely wine!

When Mike O’Connell and his family started Grayson Cellars they asked the winemaker to search throughout California's finest growing regions for the best grapes. Grayson Cellars specializes in sourcing declassified lots of wine from highly respected wineries, putting together attractive blends. Then they made several small lots of handcrafted wines and gave each a lot number. They continue that tradition today with lot numbers for each wine. The wines are carefully crafted by Larry Levin, who is among the most experienced winemakers in the Napa Valley. After completing his Enology degree at UC Davis, Larry spent seventeen years at Dry Creek Vineyard where over 18 vintages he produced more than 15 varietal wines. He has since covered the globe by making wine in New Zealand, Chile, and Australia across all price points and styles. For the previous nine years Larry was head of winemaking at Icon Estates where he oversaw the Franciscan, Mt. Veeder, Robert Mondavi, Estancia, Ravenswood, Quintessa and Ruffino brands. Larry also consults for wineries in the Stag’s Leap and Oakville districts in Napa and Sonoma. Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate recently wrote, “It’s about time Grayson Cellars receives recognition for the extraordinary bargains it is creating. There is a lot of high quality fruit available for buying and turning into wine given the hard economic hit vineyards of California have absorbed, and Grayson Cellars appears to be exploiting that to their advantage as well as to that of consumers. Winemaker Larry Levin is doing some remarkable work here, turning out wines that defy belief given their price points. Kudos to him and the owner of Grayson Cellars.” Grayson Cellars is a rarity in California today, a family-owned winery that produces small lots of moderately priced wines.
GRAYSON CELLARS CABERNET SAUVIGNON LOT 10 2009
The Wine Advocate 89 points: "Make no mistake about it, this Cabernet will not make old bones and is not one to cellar. Instead, it gives you all its got right up front when you pop and pour now. It's one smooth operator of a Cabernet that keeps folks coming back for more, especially at this price, it tastes like a Cabernet in the $25-40 range. An incredible value, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 100% French oak, boasts a dark ruby/purple color as well as a big, rich nose of blackberries, medium body, supple tannins, and surprising intensity and length. Just amazing!”
GRAYSON CELLARS MERLOT LOT 6 2008
The Wine Advocate 88 points: “Even more remarkable is the 2008 Merlot Lot 6 (3,200 cases). I am not a big fan of California Merlot, but this offering is surprisingly complex. A dark ruby/purple color is followed by notes of white chocolate, black cherries, black currants, and hints of spice and oak. Velvety tannins, medium body, and lots of fruit depth as well as a seductive style result in a wine."
GRAYSON CELLARS CHARDONNAY LOT 11
The Wine Advocate: "There are 15,000 cases of the Chardonnay, which is completely fermented and aged in stainless steel. Elegant honeysuckle, orange blossom, and tropical fruit aromas are followed by a nicely-textured, medium-bodied Chardonnay displaying outstanding purity, freshness, and overall equilibrium. Enjoy it over the next year.”

YES THIS IS A CHARDONNAY FROM CHARDONNAY. INTERESTING, RIGHT? THIS WINE IS FROM THE GREAT LOUIS LATOUR. This exciting new addition to the Louis Latour portfolio promises to become a classic. It is essentially a "Super Mâcon", with the fruit coming exclusively from the famous village of Chardonnay in the Mâconnais region. Chardonnay vines and Chardonnay's soil conspire to create the most harmonious of whites: the Chardonnay from Chardonnay. Chardonnay, the first village to have planted Chardonnay, continues to this day to produce world-class white Burgundy worth of its name. This unique offering embodies a sense of origin and place. MAISON LOUIS LATOUR
Regarded as one of the traditional négociant-éléveurs, Maison Louis Latour is the producer of some of the finest Burgundian wines but has also pioneered the production of fine wines from outside of the confines of Burgundy. The Latour family themselves have been viticulteurs since the 17th century, slowly building up a unique Domaine of 50 hectares (125 acres). This Domaine has the largest Grand Cru property in the Cote d'Or with a total of 28,63 hectares (71,58 acres) . The vineyards extend from Chambertin in the north to Chevalier-Montrachet in the south and are solely planted with the two noble grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Latour family founded the 'Maison de négoce', an important shipping company, in 1797 and is still based at 18 Rue des Tonneliers in Beaune. The company is unique in Burgundy in that it is still to this day family owned and family run, having passed down from father to son for over ten generations.

WE WILL BE TASTING THESE WINES ALL DAY TODAY! SO STOP ON BY AND TRY THESE SUPERIOR SMALL PRODUCTION ESTATE GROWN WINES. SUMMERS ESTATE WINES
Friendly, small family winery. Less than 10,000 case production of handcrafted, estate wines. Jim Summers purchased a 28-acre vineyard in Knights Valley in 1987. At that time it was mostly Merlot grapes with some Muscat Canelli. The first production of Summers Ranch Merlot was the 1992 vintage, and they increased the yield to reach a maximum of 2000 cases.
SUMMERS CHARBONO NAPA VALLEY 2007
Winery Notes: "This unique varietal is only grown on eighty acres in all of California, fourteen of which are in Summers’ Villa Andriana Vineyard. The earthy qualities of the wine reflect well in dishes such as Mushrooms stuffed with Smoked Gouda or Ragout of Wild Boar while the vibrant acidity makes it a pleasure to accompany perfectly ripe cherry tomatoes."
Wine Enthusiast 87 points: “Charbono is a variety that used to be more widely planted. It’s always a rustic wine, but it ages forever, and can develop sweet complexities. In its youth, it’s fruity, soft and tannic, with ripe blackberry and chocolate flavors.”
Wine Enthusiast 88 points: “Very ripe, showing upfront grilled blackberry and black currant flavors with hints of violets and licorice, and a firm application of smoky oak. Shows a pleasingly dry, classic structure. Best now, and a good buy for this price in upscale Napa Cab.”
Wine Advocate 88 points: “The serious 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Andriana’s Cuvee is a 6,500-case, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 20 months in French oak. It possesses a dark ruby/purple color as well as good structure and density, plenty of loamy soil, black currant, herb, and spice characteristics, and 5-6 years of drinkability.”
Wine Advocate 88 points: “There are 5,000 cases of the stainless steel fermented and aged 2008 Chardonnay Le Nude. Melon, orange blossom, and zesty citrus oil notes emerge from this elegant, mid-weight, fresh, exuberant Chardonnay. Drink this delicious white wine over the next year.”

Chateau Michel De Montaigne is owned by Frank Mahler-Besse, the same owners of many Chateaux in Bordeaux including the famous Chateau Palmer in Margaux. The property is located in Bergerac which is in south-west France and is well known for its wines. Best of all the red wines which are identical to the ones produced in the Right Bank of Bordeaux in the Medoc / Saint-Emilion regions. This historic property was rebuilt by Frank’s great-great grandmother in 1964. The property lies less than six miles from the village of St. Emilion. The terrior is identical to St. Emilion so the vineyard holds 60 % Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc on clay and marl soils and the vines average 20 years of age. Since the vineyard is located in Bergerac you will get the same great Bordeaux wine for 3-4 times less the price! CHATEAU MICHEL DE MONTAIGNE BERGERAC 2006
Tasting Notes: “This wine has a strong crushed floral nose. Pleasant aromas of plum, cherry and fig give way to a smooth and easy drinking wine. Taste hints of cherries, strawberries, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate. It covers the tongue with balanced but tamed tannins, acidity and has a nice aged oak barrel flavor with a really nice smooth finish. This will mature of the next couple years this wine gets even better the next day.”

This area was divided between the spiritual power of the abbots of the Sauve-Majeur (or "general forest", cleared by the Benedictines from the ninth century) and the temporal power of Sudan Pressac himself vassal kings of England. Pressac said the Lord of this high "Castelnau" from the fourteenth century to 200 meters from the Federal mound. This castle is built on the traditional plan of the fortified houses of the region. A main building of the fifteenth century is flanked by two large round. It overlooks an inner courtyard square built around the well, enclosed by walls and closed by two small towers. We are faced with a model of its kind, in its massive and rustic. Its elegance lies in its simplicity outside, which 'not ruled out the refinement of a door and windows overlooking the Renaissance interior. The property, grouped around the castle, is balanced by others in this country of mixed between vines, and wood grain. This balance is the image of its wines. The dry whites of Entre-Deux-Mers, vinified and aged in barrels, have a complex flavor and smooth with age. The family has long been the fate Gauffreteau directed this domain. For eight generations, it is now in the same family and is slowly its original aspect, which has been lost by the Revolution. The entire property, surrounded by woods and corn fields, consists of 30 hectares of vineyards. The white wines of the appellation Entre-Deux-Mers and the red "Bordeaux Supérieur" are very much appreciated by critics and often mentioned in the guides. They have already received numerous awards. The property, grouped around the castle, is balanced by others in this country of mixed between vines, and wood grain. This balance is the image of its wines. Castelneau is fortunate to have very old vines Semillon planted in the late 19th century. The dry whites of Entre-Deux-Mers, vinified and aged in barrels, have a complex flavor and smooth with age.

BODEGA FLECHAS DE LOS ANDES
ROTHSCHILD FLECHAS DE LOS ANDES GRAN MALBEC 2007
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 92 points:
“Flechas de Los Andes’ 2007 Gran Malbec spent 14 months in 33% new French oak, 33% second fill French oak, and 34% in stainless steel. Opaque purple-colored, it reveals a brooding bouquet of cedar, espresso, violets, and black cherry. Medium- to full-bodied, on the palate it borders on opulence, with layers of succulent fruit, a smooth texture, spicy flavors, and a lengthy finish. It admirably combines power and elegance. It also over delivers in a very big way.”
ROTHSCHILD FLECHAS DE LOS ANDES GRAN CORTE MALBEC 2006
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 94 points: “Flechas de Los Andes’ 2006 Gran Corte spent 17 months in new French oak. It is opaque purple-colored with legs that ooze down the glass. The aromatics are brooding but expressive with notes of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, lavender, black cherry, and plum. Opulent, with glossy fruit, this dense, rich effort conceals significant underlying structure. This intense, powerful, lengthy wine demands a minimum of 5-7 years of cellaring and will be at its best from 2015 to 2030.”

d'ARENBERG WINERY
In 1943 Frank's son Francis d'Arenberg, universally known as 'd'Arry' returned from school, age 16, to help his ill father run the business, eventually assuming full management of d'Arenberg in 1957. d'Arry bottled the first of the famous diagonal red stripe labeled wines the following year. By the 1970’s d’Arenberg wines had become very fashionable, having gained a significant national and international profile in less than 20 years. Enter the fourth generation, d'Arry's son Chester d'Arenberg Osborn. After graduating from Roseworthy College and touring other Australia and European wine regions Chester took over the reigns as Chief Winemaker in 1984 and immediately set about rejuvenating the 70 year old Cellars and l9th Century Vineyards. Investing in new oak refrigeration and lots of small stainless steel tanks resulted in immediate white dividends with his Dry Dam Riesling, Dryland Sauvignon Blanc, Olive Grove Chardonnay and Botrytis affected Noble Riesling all winning gold medals and trophies at wine shows. The winemaking processes of the past have been maintained, capturing the unique small-batch character of the wines and the true flavour of the McLaren Vale region. All grapes, red and white, are basket-pressed. The reds are still traditionally fermented with the grape skins (caps) submerged in open wax-lined concrete fermenters utilising the age-old technique of foot-treading. In 1990 Chester was crowned McLaren Vale Bushing King for producing the best table wine in the district judged at the McLaren Vale Wine Show. d'Arenberg's property was recently renovated incorporating cellar door tastings and a restaurant, appropriately named 'd'Arry's Verandah' overlooking McLaren Vale and the Willunga escarpment falling into the Gulf of St Vincent.
Winery Notes: “The name 'Stump Jump' relates to the significant South Australian invention – the Stump Jump plough. This plough became a popular piece of machinery for ploughing fields because of its ability to ride over stumps and gnarled "mallee" Eucalypt roots and snags, saving valuable time and resources by not stopping the draught horse. The nose is full of ripe and juicy red fruits and fresh plums mixed with dark cherry and exotic spices. The palate is rich, round and juicy with ripe raspberry and blackcurrant in abundance and a bit of plum stone, rhubarb, chocolate and licorice adding to the mix.The spicy tannins are fine and finish off this easy drinking fruity wine nicely.”
Wine Spectator 90 points: "Ripe and open-textured, this is impressive for the way it packs in the cherry, blackberry and raspberry flavors and doesn’t take the foot off the gas pedal until the mineral-inflected finish has played through. Drink now through 2018."
d’ARENBERG THE STUMP JUMP RED 2008
Winery Notes: “The 2008 Stump Jump Red has a nose of ripe and juicy red fruits and fresh plums mixed with dark cherry, rhubarb and cardamon. The palate is soft and generous, with juicy fresh red berries, mulberry and a hint of pomegranate. Underlying is a more subtle layer of plum stone, star anise and cinnamon which adds complexity and interest, with soft powdery tannins to finish.” We also highly recommend you try this white wine from d’Arenberg:
D’ARENBERG THE HERMIT CRAB 2008 Winery Notes: “Expressive aromatics of lime and lemon with peaches, pears and apricot stone jumping out of the glass and spicy, floral notes in the background. Great balance on the palate, the luscious stone fruit and ginger spices harmonized by savory nuty characters from the Marsanne. Wonderful combination of freshness, complexity and balance between fruit flavor, acid and alcohol.” Stephen Tanzer’s Internation Wine Cellar 89 points: "Light, bright gold. Pungent aromas of tangerine, poached pear and floral honey over a subtle underpinning of minerals. Supple, gently sweet orchard fruit and melon flavors are firmed by a citrus zest quality and pick up an exotic floral note on the back end. This juicy, fruit-driven wine will work well with spicy foods." Wine Spectator 88 points: "This silky white shows spicy pear and floral notes that mingle nicely on the finish. Drink now. 5,000 cases imported. "
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 88 points: "The 2008 The Hermit Crab is a blend of 72% Viognier and 28% Marsanne. The aromatics offer floral notes, honey, candle wax, and peach. Smooth-textured and ripe, the wine also has excellent depth and length. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years.”

Orin Swift Cellars is the realization of a dream that began while studying abroad at the University of Florence in Florence, Italy. Like so many other college students David was at odds with what to do upon graduation. Fortunately his roommate at the time was from an old wine family in the Sonoma valley and he had a great suggestion: "Why not get into the wine business? You seem to like wine." David started Orin Swift Cellars with two tons of purchased Zinfandel grapes and as his wife always notes, "with one pair of shoes". Starting Orin Swift while still working for other wineries and as a result started small and worked part time. When you combine excellent wines with creative labeling you are bound to grow fast and now his full time job is with Orin Swift.
ORIN SWIFT CELLARS “THE PRISONER” 2008 NAPA VALLEY Winery Notes: “Great color, deep, dark garnet with a clean and bright red band in the rim. The aromas take a minute to come up, and then they take off into a blend of ripe berry and cherry with just a hint of new oak. We age the wine in both new and seasoned French and American oak. The front of the wine is soft and almost immediately begins evolving into the broad mid-palate. The mid has weight, length, and structure. The acids were great in 2008 and provide an essential rounding effect to the "big fruit" inherent in the wine. The finish is long and filled with ripe, soft tannins. The 2008 has much the same tannin structure of the 2004 which is a personal favorite.” Wine Spectator 92 points: "Focused, rich and ripe, showing aromas of black cherry and smoky pepper, with sleek but complex flavors of boysenberry, licorice and toasty oak that linger with balanced tannins. Drink now through 2015." Reg. $49.99 . . . PEARSON’S SALE PRICE . . . $34.99 ORIN SWIFT “SALDO” ZINFANDEL 2008
88% Zinfandel, 8% Syrah, 4% Petite Syrah Through the succes of his Prisoner label, Orin Swift Cellars owner/winemaker Dave Phinney has gained access to some of the best Zinfandel vineyards in the Northern California growing community. Dave recently decided he wanted to make a high quality Zinfandel and what he created did not fit the constraints of a single AVA. There are grapes from Sonoma, Napa, Amador, Mendocino, and Contra Costa counties. Some of these great vineyards include Monte Rosso, Eagle Point, Rockpile, Bismark, Beatty, Page Nord, Duarte, Solari, Evangehlo, Battuelo's, Tofanelli, Korte, Mable Tiedemann, Frediani, Lewers, Alta Vista, and Bald Mountain just to name a few. Dave is so committed to this concept he is now developing his own Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma specifically for this project as well. The word "saldo" has many different meanings in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. In Spanish, it mainly refers to "balance on hand", and sometimes it can mean "from here and there." This wine represents the best of the best lots made by Dave from vineyards all across Northern California. Winery Notes: “The 2008 Saldo is rich, ripe, and full-bodied, with aromas of black cherry and bramble fruit. The tannins are soft but the wine has a huge mid-palate. The soft, lush finish lingers. 2008 was a perfect vintage for Saldo. The hot weather was ideal for creating ripe zinfandel. Drink now and enjoy over the next five years.” Wine Spectator 91 points: "Well-built, yet rich and stylish, with spicy blackberry aromas and zesty, layered flavors of black cherry and licorice framed by toasty oak. Offers a long, satisfying finish. Drink now through 2015." Reg. $39.99 . . . PEARSON'S SALE PRICE . . . $29.99 ORIN SWIFT CELLARS 2007 “PAPILLON” NAPA VALLEY BORDEAUX BLEND

The image on the label is a photograph of third generation Napa Valley grape grower and winemaker Vince Toffanelli's hands. The photograph was taken by renowned photographer and dear friend Greg Gorman. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 90 points: "The 2007 Papillon is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest other Bordeaux varietals. It exhibits supple, sweet tannin in addition to lush black cherry and black currant fruit, cedar, toasty new oak, and spice box. The finish suggests that the wine is still somewhat restrained and closed, but promising. It should evolve for 15 or more years." Reg. $74.99 . . . PEARSON’S SALE PRICE . . . $51.99

Robert Parker has said of this wine “At the suggested price ($20), it is a steal. It too is a great value." and we agree but we are having it on sale for $16.99 so what would Parker say about that!
Owner and viticulturist Pedro Marchevsky may be one of the most educated, experienced viticulturists in Argentina (if not the world). He has degrees in Agriculture & Enology and Agricultural Engineering, and is a Professor of Irrigation and Drainage at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. He has managed premium vineyards for over 30 years and also owns his own vineyard in the district of Los Campamentos in Eastern Mendoza. He is at the forefront of the transformation of Mendoza into a region of world-class vineyards. His philosophy is a simple one gained from experience: make wines that are true to their place. He feels his wines should express the wonderful, powerful fruit flavors, the ripe tannins, the incredible length and balance that can only come from this one place—Mendoza. The name BenMarco means "son of Marcos" in Hebrew. Pedro produces his wines as an homage to his father, Marcos who taught him how to plant, tend, and love the vineyards. He currently makes three wines, Expresivo, which captures the purest expression of his Menzoda harvest, his explosive and fruity Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec, which is in the soul of all true Argentines. The grapevine illustrated on the label is modeled after the wide-trellised vines that Pedro has planted on the borders of his vineyards (instead of unattractive fences). The BenMarco wines are crafted by his talented wife and winemaker, Susana Balbo. BenMarco wines are also produced under Dominio del Plata's code of sustainable agricultureIn 1999 Susana Balbo crafted a line of wines to showcase the ripe fruit expression of her sustainably-farmed Mendoza vineyards. The philosophy is a simple one: grow great grapes and make wines that are true to their place. Minimal intervention during the growing season and through harvest allows the true fruit character to develop. Combine this with Susana’s winemaking skills and the result is wines that express the powerful fruit flavors, the ripe tannins and the incredible length and balance that can only come from this one place: Mendoza.
BEN MARCO MALBEC 2008
Winery Notes: “Beautiful, deep purple color with perfumed aromas of ripe red fruits and roasted coffee beans. It is lush, full-bodied and penetrating on the palate with loads of chewy, currant jam flavors, bright acidity, and a touch of grip on the almost savory finish. This wine really unfolds with some air so try not to slurp it down in a rush, and it shows why the Argentine people are in love with Malbec.” Robert Parker 90 points: "The 2008 Malbec, which contains 10% Bonarda, spent 11 months in 50% new French oak and 50% first use American oak. Purple-colored, it reveals an expressive nose of wood smoke, cinnamon, incense, and black cherry. Round, ripe, medium-bodied, and savory, this layered effort has a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Enjoy it over the next 5 years. "

As one of the most historic Sonoma properties, Chalk Hill is really hitting their stride. In the blockbuster 2007 Vintage they have really hit it out of the park with their wines.
Modeled after the great white Bordeaux wines of Graves, the Chalk Hill Sauvignon Blanc and its complementary component of Sauvignon Gris, are gently harvested and whole-cluster pressed. Grown on the cooler parcels of the estate, the Sauvignon Blanc plantings are of several clones, each providing a different facet to the wine's flavor profile. Some blocks provide aromatic perfume and tropical flavors while others deliver forward stone fruit and exotic minerality. Each year, the wines are barrel fermented (predominately natural yeasts) in individual lots with biweekly batonage before being assembled into the final blend. The Chalk Hill 2007 Sauvignon Blanc captures the exotic, vibrant and bright fruit character of our estate-grown grapes. In the vineyard, we employ rigorous practices, including leafing and cluster thinning, to achieve deliciously ripe clusters. Sauvignon Gris (an heirloom varietal) is a special addition to the nine Sauvignon Blanc clones they have on the estate. Its ripe stone-fruit character along with weight and texture are a good match for the bright tropical and citrus character of the other Sauvignon Blanc clones. A combination of 30-45% skin contact in press along with 100% barrel fermentation and sur lie aging with batonnage adds depth, complexity and richness to the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc. Aromas of key lime pie, ripe green melon, white nectarine and pineapple echo its palate, round in texture yet refreshingly crisp. This wine was made through noninvasive winemaking practices, without exposure to air and bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve the intricate aromas and flavors of the Sauvginon Blanc grape. It's recommended storing is between 50 and 55 degrees F. Wine Enthusiast 92 points: "Chalk Hill’s 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is a rich, ripe wine. It shows flavors of pineapples, green apples, Asian pears and nectarines, with barrel fermentation notes of vanilla, butterscotch and honey. Delicious and complex." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 points : “Two super efforts from the Sauvignon grape include the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, which offers notes of honeyed grapefruit and white citrus in a medium-bodied, fresh, lively style with good texture as well as a crisp finish. Enjoy it over the next year… CHALK HILL WINERY PRICE $33.00 . . . PEARSON’S SALE PRICE . . . $21.99 CASE PRICE $19.99 each 40% OFF THE WINERY PRICE!

In the spirit of the World Cup starting today we bring you some of the finest wines from three of the best wine producers from South Africa all on sale.
Founded in 1776, Boekenhoutskloof is one of the oldest farms situated up the "Valley" in the Franschhoek foothills. Marc Kent is the winemaker, cellarmaster, and part owner of this homestead and wine farm. Boekenhoutskloof is a direct translation for “Ravine of Boekenhout” Boekenhout is pronounced Book-n-Howed. And is a indigenous Cape Beech Tree that was greatly prized for furniture making. In fact, the chairs on the Boekenhoutskloof winery pay tribute to the skills of the 18th century craftsmen and their endeavour of crafting beauty from natural sources. A rather nifty parallel to the process of making wines. The svelt lady on the wine label is the figurehead of the property. She is an adaptation of an early silver hallmark of the Cape of Good Hope, and she carries the dove of peace and hope. Guarding over Boekenhoutskloof she represents intrinsic quality, something despite their seemingly untraditional ways, they prize above all else. BOEKENHOUTSKLOOF THE WOLFTRAP 2009 The Wolftrap is the latest edition to the stable of Boekenhoutskloof. There is a 250-year old wolf trap on Boekenhoutskloof and the name is a tribute to the pioneers who in the early days of the Cape erected a wolf trap, mistakenly believing that wolves inhabited the area. To date, no wolf either real or mystical has been seen in the valley.
Winery Notes:
Syrah 65 %, Mourvèdre 32 %, Viognier 3 %
"Both the Syrah and Mourvèdre component come from a Malmesbury vineyard with the Viognier sourced on Boekenhoutskloof. The reds were fermented using selected Rhone strain yeasts. French oak matured with Viognier blended prior to bottling. Egg white fined.
Abundance of black fruit flavours with hints of violet. Unpretentious easy drinking with smooth tannins and sweet berries on the palate.” BOEKENHOUTSKLOOF THE CHOCOLATE BLOCK 2008 For years now the rumors have been rife that Boekenhoutskloof have been up to strange things in their cellar- like adding chocolate and spice to their wines. While they don’t deny that perhaps a odd thing or two may perhaps have happened at some of their cellar parties. They have taken an enigmatic Mona- Lisa type stance on the chocolate rumor. To them chocolate is chocolate and wine is wine. They only express what is there and you’ll just have to try the wine to know more. Winery Notes: " The 2008 Chocolate Block is a blend of Syrah (69%); Grenache noir (12%); Cabernet Sauvignon (10%); Cinsault (7%) and Viognier (2%). The Syrah fruit comes from Malmesbury with its unique growing conditions and dryland farmed vineyards to ensure it deep-rooted vines and therefore optimal concentration of colour, flavour and tannin structure. The Grenanche noir (from some of the oldest in the country) is sourced from Citrusdal with its very sandy soils and perfect terroir for ripening this grape varietal. This batch was matured in 600L barrels to retain the unmistakable fruit and freshness on the cultivar. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier come from the organically farmed vineyards of Boekenhoutskloof and the Cinsault is from old bush vines on decomposed granite soils on Welbedacht in Wellington. The wine matures in 2nd and 3rd filled French oak barrels for 15 months before it gets a light egg-white fining.
The wine shows typical Malmesbury Syrah flavours on the nose with intense spicy notes which is supported by ripe plum, black fruit and violet aromas. The wine has a grippy acidity and well integrated tannins with a well textured and rounded mouth feel. The long, elegant and succulent finish with superb structure from the Cabernet Sauvignon leads us to believe that this wine has at least 8 years of aging potential." |

MULDERBOSCH SAUVIGNON BLANC 2008 This racy bottling single-handedly put South Africa on the map as a source of world class Sauvignon Blanc. One of the Cape's most heralded and sought-after wines, it garners 90+ scores vintage after vintage. Winery Notes: “The grapes were harvested, crushed and pressed. After this the must was cold settled for 2 days and racked before being inoculated with a variety of select yeast cultures. The wine was fermented cold and given extended lees contact. Reductive winemaking techniques were applied to preserve the fruit character throughout blending and bottling. Vivid tropical fruit aromas give way to succulent, mouth-filling flavors of guava, lychee, gooseberry, lime, and fresh cut grass, supported by a bracing jolt of acidity. Clear, light lime green color. A tropical nose packed with guava, green fig, granadilla and a hint of floral - yet still maintaining a complex character of nettle and freshly cut grass. The mouth-filling ripe fruit is supported by crisp acid. This wine screams one thing: "Give me more !!!"
Stephen Tanzer’s International Cellar 90 points: "Very pale yellow. Classic aromas of grapefruit pith, lime and bell pepper, with a whiff of more exotic passion fruit. Broad and dense, with lovely citrus lift to the flavors of lime peel, pepper and gooseberry. A big boy for 2008, conveying an impression of chewy extract and finishing with excellent limey lift."

The vineyards are located on four diverse farms in the Western Cape province, enabling the Robertson and Franschoek Cellars to have access to grape varietals grown in the climactic conditions and soils to which they are best suited. Marco Ventrella, Graham Beck's viticulturist, oversees the 4 farms. However, each farm is individually tended by its respective vineyard manager. An extensive renewal program has resulted in premier red and white varietals on all of the farms. Great care has been taken to match the obliging micro-climates and rich variety of soils with the most suitable varietal. This ensures that the winemakers have access to optimum quality fruit from which to make their specific wines.

Chateau Montaud is family-owned by Vignobles Francois Ravel and founded in 1964, when the Ravel family returned to Provence from Algeria. Little by little, the family created a viticultural estate that today is one of the most important in the Provence region. Mainly composed of shale and sandstone, the domaine’s Permian soils are poor and thus require the wines to take root deeply. This allows them to benefit from the full characteristics of the land. The grapes flourish under the Mediterranean sun, which enables them to acquire their full flavors.
Winery Notes: “Rose Wine with varietals of Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, and Tibouren. The color is a lovely peachy-orange and it shows scents of ripe melons, citrus and ripe strawberries. The flavors are light and fruity with brisk acidity.”

Nikola Nobilo saw New Zealand as the perfect setting for his artful winemaking. With a family history that stretches back 300 years in Croatia, he merged old world European traditions with the breathtakingly ideal viticultural conditions of New Zealand. Nikola settled in Huapai, West Auckland and planted his first family vines in 1943. Nobilo played a key role in the development of the New Zealand wine industry, steering away from the traditional hybrid grape varietals and fortified wines, to a level of quality now revered internationally NOBILO ICON The Icon series represents the culmination of years of research into specific viticultural techniques, particular attention to vineyard sites and a winemaking strategy focused on fruit structure and balance. The fruit for this wine was sourced from both the Wairau and Awatere valleys, where the vines are grown on a combination of alluvial stony soils and silty clays. Cool nights and a long, hot summer resulted in a prolonged growing season. Leaf plucking and shoot thinning of the vines, and a low cropping rate allowing the grapes to reach full maturity with an excellent balance and concentration of flavors. The grapes were harvested and destemmed, then lightly crushed allowing some whole berries to go through the maceration process. Midway through fermentation, the seeds were removed to reduce tannin extraction and encourage a smmoother style of wine. The juice then underwent cold maceration for several days. Primary fermentation took place in small, stainless steel tanks using a red wine specific yeast culture. The ferments were sluiced at four hourly intervals over ten days. Post fermentation, the wine remained on skins for five days before being racked and transferred into a mix of new and seasoned French oak barrels, to undergo maloactive fermentation and 12 months aging. Only select parcels of top-quality Marlborough fruit create the Icon Collection Wines. NOBILO ICON SAUVIGNON BLANC 2008 Wine Spectator 92 points: "SMART BUY A brilliant burst of lime, grapefruit and green apple rides easily on a racy, acidity-fueled texture, persisting into the long, vibrant finish with hints of wet stone and citrus peel. In the early Renaissance, Monna Nera Bonaccorsi built the first ‘Nobleman’s house’ and nine farmhouses together with wine-making buildings at Capezzana. Numerous generations and families followed: the Cantucci, relations of the Medici, and the Marchesi Bourbon del Monte. In the Eighteenth century the wife of Marquis Bourbon, née Cantucci, enlarged the estate and increased the number of farms; her greatest achievement, however, was to introduce exemplary administrative practices, evidence of which can be found in the estate’s historic archive.
Carmignano was designated by Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici (in 1716) as one of the four best areas for wine growing in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The 'Motu proprio' Decree and 'Bando' laid down precise rules for production, set out geographical boundaries and regulated trade in the wines from these areas, thereby making up the first 'D.O.C.' (denomination of controlled origin) in the world.
CAPEZZANA BARCO REALE DI CARMIGNANO 2006
This wine is made from traditional Carmignano grapes 70% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Canaiolo. Winery Notes: “Purplish dark and deep red with ruby red shades. Sweet, ample, elegant, very intense and fruity with light tones of oak. Soft, voluminous, ample with sweet tannins of medium density in good balance with the acidity. Fruity, sweet, longlasting finish."
Wine Advocate 89 points:
"The estate's 2006 Barco Reale di Carmignano is a pretty wine endowed with notable clarity and vibrancy. This Sangiovese, with Cabernet and Canaiolo, offers an attractive array of ripe dark fruit, earthiness and minerals, with excellent lenght and tannins that are nicely integrated into its medium-bodied frame. It is an excellent value."

David Ramey started his career in wine with little more than a degree in enology and a dream. Then, after nearly two decades of creating benchmark wines for such California wineries as Matanzas Creek, Chalk Hill, Dominus and Rudd , David Ramey and his wife Carla founded Ramey Wine Cellars in 1996. “Owning one’s own winery is the dream of every winemaker,” David says, looking back on the path that led him to build his own. It took time, planning and a profound understanding of how best to bring together all the elements—from the grapes, to the winery materials, and a top-notch team of professionals—to make it all work.
David Ramey is widely acknowledged to be among the wine pioneers whose efforts helped raise the bar for all American winemakers and brought California to the forefront of the international wine world. David’s groundbreaking work with indigenous yeasts and malolactic and barrel fermentation yielded a new California style that was richer, more lush and silky smooth than previously known. As a result, he created a benchmark style now emulated by many.
Ramey Wine Cellars is located in the quaint Sonoma County town of Healdsburg. The winery produces authentic, hand-crafted wines made in an Old World tradition--coupled with New World innovation and California terroir. It is a sleek, efficient, no-frills work space dedicated exclusively to making the highest quality wines possible. “In our own winery, we’re not distracted, as I had been, by the ongoing and changing needs of an employer,” David notes. ”At Ramey Wine Cellars, we try to foster a team environment where everybody feels empowered to contribute and make a difference in both winery operations and the wine itself. My hope is to create an atmosphere of great opportunity for all.”
RAMEY CHARDONNAY SONOMA COAST 2007
Our fifth release from this vineyard planted in 1999 by Richard Hyde and his son Rick, brother and nephew of Larry Hyde. Named Sonoma Stage, it is at the apex of Stage Gulch Road between Petaluma and Carneros—a quite cool and windy site. Also included is the second harvest from the Platt Vineyard as 46% of the blend. Planted to our specifications, with old Wente selected from Larry Hyde's vineyard, the Platt Vineyard sits 800 feet above the village of Bodega, with a south-facing exposition overlooking the Estero Americano.”
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 91 points: “Pale yellow. Pure, finely etched aromas of lemon, pink grapefruit, Anjou pear, tarragon and white pepper. Racy citrus and orchard fruit flavors are given depth by melon and candied licorice qualities, with dusty minerals adding grip. This wine's light touch and finishing precision are impressive, and it's balanced to age.”
Reg. $39.99 . . . PEARSON’S SALE PRICE . . . $27.99
RAMEY CHARDONNAY RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY 2007
At 56%, this vintage derives primarily from four different Dutton ranches, together with 18% from Rochioli Vineyards, 11% from the King Vineyard off Piner Road, 9% Martinelli Woolsey Road and 5% from Green Pastures Vineyard (a 40-year-old Wente vineyard back Felta Creek Road). Goldridge loam and gravelly soils give a crisper mouthfeel to Russian River Chardonnays compared with their Carneros counterparts
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 91 points: “Light gold. Powerfully scented bouquet of lemon, orange, iodine and floral honey, with a suave spicy undertone. The citrus flavors repeat on the palate, along with gingerbread and tangy mineral qualities. Very fresh and precise, with excellent finishing lift and lingering minerality. This got about 38% new oak but I'm not seeing, or feeling it.”
Wine Advocate Robert Parker 90 points: “This graceful Chardonnay can be enjoyed over the next several years. More tropical fruit and honeysuckle notes are found in the 2007 Chardonnay Russian River. Good underlying acidity buttresses the wine’s considerable fruit and body, resulting in a vivacious mouthfeel as well as a chalky minerality. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.”
Reg. $39.99 . . . PEARSON’S SALE PRICE . . . $27.99
RAMEY CHARDONNAY CANEROS DISTRICT 2007
This year’s blend comes 37% from the Sangiacomo Tallgrass vineyard; 33% from Sangiacomo Green Acres, a young Wente selection (both in Sonoma); and 30% from Larry Hyde’s own Bayview Vineyard (this is his personal vineyard and not the Hyde Vineyard, but also in Napa). The heavier, clay-based soils of Carneros produce wines with a broad, full mouthfeel.
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 90 points: “Green-gold. Sexy aromas of pineapple, melon and white peach are lifted by a floral note. Deep pit fruit and honeydew flavors coat the palate and are braced by tangy minerals. Gains weight and sweetness on the long, juicy finish. I'd drink this suave wine now, for its exuberant fruit.”
Wine Advocate Robert Parker 91 points: “My favorite of the generic series is the 2007 Chardonnay Carneros. Vibrant acidity and minerality (characteristics of the vintage) are present in this beautifully fruity effort, as well as notes of smoky hazelnuts, buttered citrus, and loads of freshness and definition. It should drink nicely for three years.”
Reg. $39.99 . . . PEARSON’S SALE PRICE . . . $27.99
RAMEY CLARET NAPA VALLEY 2006
Our entry-level Cabernet blend, this vintage is composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 3% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot (You may know that before France started their AOC (appellation) system in the 1930’s it was common, during the 1800’s, to import Syrah from Hermitage to blend with the wines of Bordeaux. These hermitage’ wines often fetched higher prices in the English market than those which had not been “improved.”) This soft, easy-drinking wine is a good introduction to the vintage, and while it will improve over the course of two to five years, it is not a wine intended for long-term aging.
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 90 points: “Ruby-red. Spicy red- and blackcurrant aromas are complemented by cocoa and smoky minerals. Medium-weight red fruit flavors show good concentration, with velvety tannins framing the wine. The spicy note repeats on the suave, seamless finish. Ramey calls this his roasted chicken wine.
Wine Spectator 91 points: “Top Value. Offers aromas of ripe plum and berry, with spice and sage. Though firm and full-bodied, this reveals a sense of elegance and finesse, ending with integrated tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2010 through 2016.”

RAMEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY 2005
This vintage is blended from 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4 % Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Analogous to our appellation Chardonnays, this blend gives us the opportunity to work with a broad range of vineyards which offer the typicite’ of the Napa Valley, as well as providing a new tier to allow declassification of lots from our vineyard-designates, such as Larkmead.
Wine Advocate Robert Parker 91 points: "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as sweet, tarry, black currant, chocolate, cedar, and wood smoke-like flavors, and decent acidity. Drink it over the next 10-15 years."
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 90 points: "Opaque ruby. Red- and blackcurrant aromas, with suave floral, tobacco and spice character adding interest. Fleshy, liqueur-like dark berry flavors are soft and round, with no rough edges or obvious tannins. Turns slightly firmer on the long, velvety finish. Ramey told me that this has a pH of 4.0."

Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 92 points: “Bright ruby. Cherry and red berry aromas are complicated by dried rose, tobacco and fresh herbs. Juicy and intense, with gently sweet red and dark berry flavors and slow-mounting tannins. Becomes more floral with air and finishes with impressive clarity and spicy persistence. Eighty percent of the vines that provided this fruit are planted on steep hillsides, Ramey told me.”
Wine Advocate Robert Parker 90 points: “The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bigger, deeper effort revealing austere tannins in the finish, but also plenty of chocolaty, black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, roasted herbs, and underbrush. “

Provenance Vineyards showcases the distinctiveness of Napa Valley's best growing areas. Great wines start in the vineyards so they have selected the finest vineyards in Rutherford, Oakville, Mt. Veeder, Oak Knoll and in the Carneros district. The same uncompromising approach also characterizes Provenance winemaking, with the goal of bringing the grapes from these great vineyards to their fullest potential. They gently guide the grapes into wine, striving to bring out the personality, complexity and uniqueness of each vineyard and vintage. Starting with its inaugural 1999 vintage, Provenance wines offer a balance of elegance and substance with deep, intense flavors that reflect the vineyards where the grapes were grown. They craft age-worthy wines to be approachable upon release. The word provenance means “origin” or “source.” In the art world, a provenance is the record of a work’s ownership, from its creation to the present day. Connoisseurs place great importance in provenance as a guarantee of authenticity. The name reflects Provenance Vineyards' goal of creating fine wines that are works of art. Provenance Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc is produced primarily with estate-grown fruit from the vineyard surrounding the winery. Established in 2003, these 12 acres of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are planted in tightly spaced rows to limit vigor and concentrate fruit character. The vineyard is divided into eight blocks based on variations in rootstock and orientation; each block is picked and fermented separately to increase complexity.

THESE WINES HAVE BEEN PEARSON’S AND WINE CRITICS APPROVED.
BODEGAS BORSAO
Founded in 1958 in the town of Borja, called Borsao in the 4th century B.C., this winery represents what can be done with Garnacha, a grape that is not well appreciated by the Spanish press. Bodegas Borsao which is set amid the undulating hills of Zaragoza in sight of Mt. Moncayo, the highest mountain in the Iberian Range. Through meticulous selection, work in the fields and at reception time in the winery, modern winemaking produces this highly fruity wine. One of the best examples of the region known as "The Garnacha land of Spain", the lower part of the Ebro River.
The Moncayo, with its soft undulations, provides optimum conditions for growing grapes, especially Garnacha that by tradition represents 70% of the total production. The hillsides and undulations of the Moncayo protect the different vineyards situated at altitudes between 400 and 700 m, regulating the cold, the heat and the typical Cierzo from the North that gives the grape its characteristic wild aroma.
BODEGAS BORSAO 2008
80% Garnacha, 20% Tempranillo
Wine Spectator 89 points: "This firm red offers ripe black cherry and boysenberry fruit, backed by notes of smoke, mineral and herb. The tannins are well-integrated, and floral and smoke notes linger."
Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 88 points: "The 2008 Borsao is a blend of 80% Garnacha and 20% Tempranillo. Purple-colored with an expressive aromatic array of black cherry and blackberry, this well-balanced, lengthy effort is another terrific value from Bodegas Borsao."

LEGADO TEMPRANILLO MENDOZA 2008
Founder, Tomas Machado's family ancestor Don Manuel de Villefane began making wine in Argentina in the year 1611, which gives them nearly 400 years of wine making experience here in the heart of South America. This impressive winery represents his 'Legacy' or 'Legado' (in Spanish), and they are proud to honor his memory with these fine wines of Maipu, Mendoza. This is the king of the red wines in Argentina. These grapes were picked by hand at 3200 feet elevation at the base of the Andes Mountains in Lujan de Cuyo. Only the free-run juice was used and a maceration was used before and after the fermentation of this Malbec. Fourteen months in French oak barrels.
International Wine Review 88 points:
"The Tempranillo has a pleasant nose of cherry and plum with spice notes. It offers a soft attack with a medium weight palate, modest black cherry and plum fruit flavors and a pleasant finish.”

CHALK HILL'S POTENTIAL FOR GREAT CHARDONNAY was discovered early and it became one of the initial plantings. The oldest, Founder's Block dates back to the establishment of the winery, in 1972, and remains a keystone in the estate's Chardonnay program.
In order to draw out its true varietal character, and imprint the Chalk Hill Estate signature, the winemaking regime always includes: whole cluster pressing, natural yeast and malolactic fermentations in barrel, sur lie aging (with batonage) in French oak, and unfiltered bottling- tried-and-true Burgundian techniques.
Wine Spectator 93 points: "Bold, rich and full-bodied, with succulent fig, apricot, smoky oak and roasted marshmallow flavors that are complex and distinctive, finishing with a long, intricate finish and subtle flavor notes. Drink now through 2015."
Winery Notes: "The wine boasts intense aromas of Asian pear, green apple, toasted hazelnut and integrated oak. Our signature combination of richness and elegance is evidenced by the creamy, crisp flavors of lemon pie, and exotic spice, all buoyed by the bright, fresh acidity.

Michel Chapoutier is one of the most highly regarded winemakers in France. Since taking over his family firm in 1990 at age 26, Michel Chapoutier has transformed the winery into the leading Rhône Valley producer. He combines the modern and the traditional: crusading for biodynamic winemaking, while expanding operations around the globe and experimenting with cutting edge winemaking techniques.
"In this short period, Michel Chapoutier has amassed a record of unprecedented achievement ... he is one of the most influential wine personalities of the last 20 years." This restless energy and unconditional commitment to quality has produced tremendous success. In 2003 alone, Maison M. Chapoutier's wines garnered no less than 88 ratings of 90+ points as well as broad acclaim from the most widely regarded publications including The Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, International Wine Cellar, Wine & Spirits, and Wine Enthusiast. In the last three years, Robert Parker has awarded five of Michel Chapoutier's wines perfect 100 point scores.
The vineyards of the Roussillon were planted in the 11th Century by Greek mariners. M. CHAPOUTIER "DOMAINE DE BILA-HAUT OCCULTUM LAPIDEM" COTES DU ROUSSILLON-VILLAGES 2007
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 points: "From Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah planted in a mixture of gneiss, schist, and chalk, and vinified half each in tank and barrel (demi-muids as well as barriques), the 2007 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Occultum Lapidem smells of violets, toasted walnuts, cassis, licorice, rosemary, roasted meats, and sea breeze. The influence of Syrah – which, understandably, tends to be featured in slightly larger percentages in Bila-Haut wines than in most of Roussillon is very much in evidence. Fascinating suggestions of brine and iodine, resinous southern French herbs and exotic spices, inform the deeply fruited as well as richly carnal palate, where a caressing polish and tender, ultra-refined tannins make themselves subtly felt. The finish here is bright and refreshing even as it is profoundly rich. If there are two words I would use, Troullier took them right out of my mouth
: dense, and active. I imagine this incredible value and remarkable performance for its vintage will be well worth following for 5-7 years." ALLEGRINI PALAZZO DELLA TORRE 2006
The Best Price you will find for this Baby Amarone!
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 90 points
: "The 2006 Palazzo della Torre comes across as somewhat restrained for this wine. This is a very polished, elegant Palazzo della Torre with pretty layers of mocha, spices and new leather that add complexity to the fresh, vibrant fruit. Palazzo della Torre is 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese. The addition of 30% dried fruit (Amarone style) adds an extra dimension of complexity. The retro 1970's label is also quite attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016."

Whitehaven wines are crafted to reflect New Zealand's unique combination of land, climate and dazzling beauty. They hope their vivid character inspires people to see and appreciate more of the things that are truly important in life. Established in 1994 by Sue and Greg White and award winning winemaker Simon Waghorn, Whitehaven Wine Company is a small, family-owned winery focused on producing elegant varietal wines. Sourcing fruit from its own estates and from 12 joint venture or contract growers across Marlborough's Wairau and Awatere valleys, Whitehaven quickly established a reputation for producing quality wines.
1995 was Whitehaven’s first significant vintage with 5,000 cases produced. Although the 1995 vintage was the most difficult in Marlborough history, Whitehaven gained immediate success with a double gold medal Riesling and a 5 star rating for its Sauvignon Blanc. Numerous other successes followed, including Whitehaven’s flagship variety Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, which are highly regarded for its quality, intensity and consistent expression of Marlborough’s unique style.
WHITEHAVEN PINOT NOIR 2007

Aroma / Bouquet: Rich plum and bottled cherry fruit flavours, lifted by spicy, cherry oak and underlined by a gamey complexity. Palate: Full bodied wine with round, mouth filling flavours of plum and black cherry, pleasing weight and a long elegant finish. Oak integrates nicely with the fruit, and helps with the silky tannin structure.”
