SONOMA CUVEE
Jean-Charles Boisset, President of Boisset Family Estates, grew up in the vineyards and developed a life-long passion for wine both its production and its enjoyment. He possesses a long- term vision for his familys company that stems from a dedication to innovation and the environment while continually focusing on crafting fine wines of distinction. This vision has led to pioneering efforts in sustainability from the vineyard to the vessel. Jean- Charles was in June 2007 named to Decanter Magazines list of the Top 50 Power Brokers in the global wine industry. In March 2008, he received the Meininger International Wine Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Meininger Group, publishers of Meiningers Wine Business International, and in December 2008 he was named Innovator of the Year by The Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
At Boisset Family Estates they are dedicated to a tradition of quality and respect for terroir, showcased through the wines as well as their sustainable practices at every point in a wines life, from vineyard to vessel. Founded in 1980, they offer wines from a variety of countries and key production regions around the world, seeking to express the qualities of wines with an art de vivre and style that consistently enhance terroir, provenance, history, heritage and quality. Each house in the family of wineries has a unique history, identity, and style, yet all are united in the pursuit of superior quality. Simultaneously, they lead innovations in the wine world that address climate change, reduce waste and CO2 emissions, and protect the long-term sustainability of wine growing. This approach has helped to build a diverse and balanced portfolio that provides wines for every moment, mode of consumption, and occasion.
In 2003 they welcomed DeLoach Vineyards into their portfolio and showed the world that the terroir of Sonoma County, combined with Boissets traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques, can truly create magical wines.
After the success of DeLoach wines, the
Boisset family
recognized the strong resemblance between
the terroir of Burgundy and that of Sonoma County.
In 2005, the Boisset Family Estates welcomed
Sonoma Cuvee. This vineyard has shown to have
incredible potential to grow world-class,
terroir-driven wines.
Sonoma Cuvee has a Burgundian Elegance and a California Style. Selected from prestigious terroirs throughout the Russian River Valley, each of the wines is crafted by hand in small lots using ancient Burgundian techniques.
SONOMA CUVEE ZINFANDEL RUSSIAN
RIVER VALLEY 2006
In this 2006 vintage Sonoma Cuvee married a
vibrant blend of fruit from century old vines and old
vine clones. Grown in the heart of the Russian River
Valley, the grapes exhibit the unique flavor profiles
famous to this region.
Winery Notes: "Vinified in our traditional
style, individual lots were fermented separately to
highlight the distinctive characteristics of these vines
and their descendants. After aging in barrels, the
wines are united in a single cuvee exemplifying the
pinnacle of Russian River Zinfandel.
This Zinfandel presents old-world style aromas of
red cherries laced with smoky characteristics.
Raspberry notes carry through on the palate; flavors of
zin-berry mingle with hints of barrel spice and
elements of walnut. This wine unfolds with a wonderful
balance of acidity and soft tannins; it is harmony in the
mouth."

SONOMA CUVEE SYRAH RUSSIAN
RIVER VALLEY 2006
The Russian River Valley is renowned for
producing world class Pinot Noir, Chardonnay,
Zinfandel, yet also yields equally excellent Syrah. The
moderate climate with cool morning fog keeps the
temperatures from getting too hot and allows the
exposed fruit to ripen evenly, while the well-drained,
loamy soils sustain the vines through the growing
season.
Winery Notes: "Violets and plum with
hints of dried dark fruit predominate on the nose. This
wine is laced with underlying smokiness, while
blueberry and herbal notes dominate the mid palate.
The wine has firm tannins framed by hints of vanilla
and toasty oak."
